This intermediate-level course builds on the foundational skills developed in our Introductory course, focusing on the technical and creative aspects of audio post-production for film, television, and podcasts. Students will refine their skills in dialogue editing, sound design, Foley, and mixing while exploring advanced techniques in noise reduction, automation, EQ, and compression. The course also introduces industry-standard post-production workflows, including session organization, conforming to picture, and delivery formats. Through hands-on projects in Pro Tools, students will develop the critical listening skills and technical expertise required for professional audio post-production.

  • MacBook Pro : A reliable, powerful computer is essential for running Pro Tools and handling audio editing software efficiently.
  • Mixing Headphones : High-quality headphones are necessary for accurate audio monitoring during the recording and mixing process. Closed-back options:

    Beyerdynamic DT 770, Audio-Technica ATH-M50X, or similar models, perfect for providing isolation during mixing and recording.

    Open-back options: Sennheiser HD 650, Beyerdynamic DT-770 PRO, or similar models, ideal for an open, natural sound ideal for critical listening.

  • iLok : A USB dongle required for managing and storing licenses for Pro Tools and various plugins used in the production process.
